John Leslie
John has been involved in every production of Stephen Murray’s Making Scents, and he is pleased and proud to be Music Director for this current production by Vanilla Box Productions. John served as Music Director for the original production at Worc. County Light Opera, played the role of Leon for Barre Players Theatre and for the NOMTI New Musical workshops in Boston, and was the stage director for Calliope Productions’ production in Boylston, 2011. John has also directed Stephen Murray’s children’s musical The Magic Snowman and provided the voice of Sherlock Holmes on the demo recording of Mr. Murray’s newest musical The Enchanted Bookshop.
Recently for Vanilla Box, John has appeared as neighbor Mr. Laurence in Little Women, the Musical and in the one-man show Liberace! John was also Music Director for Vanilla Box’s production of Nunsense and was show pianist for Cabaret.
Being an avid supporter of local community theater, John was a founding member of Calliope Productions, Theatre Unlimited and J.E.M.S. Theatre, which recently produced Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Light in the Piazza. John has supported New Players Theatre Guild in Fitchburg by assisting with funding for Next to Normal, Meet Me in St. Louis and George M. Cohan Tonight. John will next be assisting with production expenses for Vanilla Box’s upcoming production of La Cage Aux Folles and for Arctic Playhouse’s production of Master Class, in Warwick, RI this October, starring Ida Zecco.
Concurrently, John is the rehearsal and show pianist for Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music for Greater Worcester Opera in March at Stageloft Theatre and will be music directing Spamalot for Calliope Productions this Spring.
